(Still) an insider tip, but certainly not for long, but the Innere Schwemmalm Hut enjoys ever greater popularity as a hiking destination for families and mountain enthusiasts - in summer and winter!
A "real" alpine pasture in the skiing and hiking area Schwemmalm in the Ulten Valley, only a walk of about 20 minutes from the top station of the cable car.
"Real" because here cows are still herded and milked in the evening, pigs run around freely, but also rabbits and cats and goats. In addition, a hut hostess, which makes a perfect Kaiserschmarren from the milk obtained here, of course, the eggs for this also come from the happy chickens that roam around the hut. In addition, there is a top location - somewhat away from the hustle and bustle, but directly on the hiking trail to the idyllic "Gruab".
The reasons for this are obvious: the great commerce with folk music from loudspeakers and self-service has not yet found its way here and if not just a guest or a musical friend of the house takes the guitar or accordion in hand, it is reserved for the cows to provide with your bells for the musical framework. The view is magnificent, stretching over the southern peaks of the Ulten Valley all the way up to the Hasenohr. The service is friendly, and the Kaiserschmarren made by Erika, the boss of the hut, is fabulous (€7.50).

In 2007, the owners of the inner Schwemmalm, an active group of mountain farmers from Val d'Ultimo, gave it a new lease of life with a new building. Thanks to the modernization, this is now also open in winter, which makes it an ideal destination for snowshoe hikers and touring ski walkers. and To reach the Innere Schwemmalm is from St. Nikolaus or St. Moritz on foot on well-marked trails or in about 15 minutes from the top station of the new cable car. (also in winter)
The inner Schwemmalm is one of the few remaining "real" mountain pastures. So here the mountain hut host primarily takes care of the cows of the farmers who own the alp, while the rest of the family takes care of the hut guests.
From here it is a 30 minute walk to the "Gruab" a very idyllic place around the stream that falls from the Hasenohr into the valley.
